What is DUPLAYS?

What's a "league"? What's the format of play?
DUPLAYS leagues generally operate like this: Games are played one night per week. The night is fixed, it's the same night every week for the duration of the league's season -- usually 8-10 weeks. Each week you'll play for 45-60 minutes on that night. Your team's game start times will vary each week depending on the schedule.
Why do I need to sign up?
Only users who have signed up for league will be put on a roster, have access to the schedule, and most importantly get the latest notifications and updates about the league itself. Especially important in case of last minute changes.
How do I sign up to play?
First register (create an account) on DUPLAYS.com. Then browse through the available leagues/events/etc in your city from the PLAY page and click on the one you want.
What's the difference between registering and signing up?
We use the term REGISTER to mean creating an account on DUPLAYS.com. Registering is free and allows you to do many things on the website. You'll need to register first in order to SIGN UP for a league, event, etc. Signing up for a league will cost money. Payment of league fees can be made online or offline.
I don't have a team, can I play?
Yes! DUPLAYS started as a great way to meet new people and get active. We'll place you on a team with other new players, and you're guaranteed to meet lots of people!
I want to play with a friend. How do we ensure we're on the same team?
Simple. During the sign up process, just mention your friend's name in the "Comments" box and we'll group you together.
What team am I on and when do we play?
The week prior to the start of a league is when we'll post the rosters and schedule. If everyone signed up weeks in advance our job would be easy. But they don't. So expect to find out your team and schedule at the last the day before the official start. Look for an email from the league admin. Email the contact listed on the league page if there are any problems.
Can I watch first before committing to join. What should I do?
If you'd like to watch first you may. We ask you to sign up online (click "pay offline").
I'm out of shape / Am I good enough? / and other excuses not to play...
LOTS of people worry that they are not good or fit enough to play. But please know this: DUPLAYS wasn't designed for "elite" athletes (except for our super competitive/elite leagues). 90% of DUPLAYS leagues are for regular people, just like you, who are there to play recreationally, meet some new people and have a good time. So, no more excuses! Come give it a try and you won't regret it.
I want to add/remove players to my team. How do I do this?
Send the players a link to the league page and ask them to sign up online. When prompted for a team to join, they should select your team.
My team will be late OR miss 1 week, who do I tell?
Make sure you email the contact listed on the league page immediately!
What are the rules for the playoffs. Is there a minimum number of weeks a participant must play in the regular season to be eligible for the playoffs?
Yes (unless stated otherwise on the league page). To be eligible for the playoffs, each player must have signed up online, paid fully, and played in at least 2 regular season games.
Do winning teams get prizes?
When possible, yes. In competitive leagues with more than 6 teams, it's the norm. In recreational and new leagues, usually not.
I want to referee games when not playing. Can I do this (and get paid?)?
YES! We're usually looking for referees (especially for Netball and Touch Rugby). You can referee the games you're not playing and get paid between 40-60 AED/hr.
I want to pay online but I already signed up, how can I pay online now?
Log in and go to the league page. Scroll down to the link you had clicked to sign up. It's now replaced with a link to "update my settings". Click this to return to the payment page and choose Credit Card payment
We are entering a team, but can we each just pay as individuals?
Entering a team means paying the full team fee. If you pay individually we'll most likely add players to your group. Usually it's cheaper to pay as a team, and makes more sense to have extra players as subs. When you pay as a team, you control your team's roster. If you don't have enough players for a full team, we can still group you together, we'll just add more players to your team to fill it up!
My company is going to pay the league entry fee. How can they pay?
We accept credit card payment (through PayPal), or offline payment of cash or cheque. Make cheques payable to "DUPLAYS Sports Services". If you need an invoice, just email billing@duplays.com.
I am going to miss part of the season, do I get a discount?
If you are part of a team, then talk to your team captain. If you're an individual and tell us before the season begins, then we'll prorate your fees. (see below)
My fees are being "prorated". How does that work?
Fees will be prorated (+1) based on the number of weeks (sessions). For example: If you join with 5 weeks remaining, we'll take the per week cost and multiply it by 6 (5 weeks + 1). So you would pay 6x the per week cost. So if the league is 400 AED for 8 weeks the per week cost is 50 AED. If you'll only make 5 weeks, then we'll charge you for 5 + 1. So 6 * 50 = 300 AED.
What is your policy on ref unds?
DUPLAYS refund policy is clearly stated on the Terms page. Any extra circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis. Please email the correct contact person for your league and city. Full contact list is on the DUPLAYS contacts page.
